Hearing how much fun they had and seeing how natural they are with Nonna and Grandpa made it all worth it. Will I do another 4 day weekend for them in NC? Not sure. It took an awful lot of Saturday and Tuesday to drop off and pick up and only got one full solo day. But, is the experience that they get spending their time with their Grandparents, in another part of the country, without a parental influence an invaluable one? Absolutely.
They had so much fun just "doing stuff" that it's kind of nice to know that they enjoyed doing whatever "stuff" means. Their favorite part was the Bouncy House, hands down. The basement was a very close second for little brother due to his obsession with the fact that Nonna and Grandpa don't have a basement like we do, set up as a playroom full of toys for mostly only them to play in. The favorite gifts were the headlamp for Little Brother and everything for Big Sister.
How much longer can our good fortune last with two kids who like each other, can play together without too much disturbance, and without the pre-teen sass and irritability? Does this mean I might also be loosing my window to take them to Disney?
P.S. Daddy-O we got your box today. The postcard and the magnet are the most "treasured" items since they depict a "world" that the kids have no concept of even with the postcard's visual renderings. Unfortunately, Honey Badger is big enough for me to wear and both kids have almost chronically runny stuffy noses that they can't smell the candle tea lights. The box was loved and adored; the gifts were a little under appreciated after almost 2 weeks of gift receiving celebrations. We have started working on our next box for you. Have you started your next box for your pen pal children?
